Liquid Silicone Ruber (LSR) is a material that combines the performance advantages of silicone elastomers with the design and processing advantages of liquid additive manufacturing.
High viscosity LSR is used especially for products requiring high fineness. In terms of technical properties, it is almost identical to injection-molded parts. Moreover, in addition to low viscosity, this material has very good flow behavior and high elongation at break in the cured state.
After the printing process, the material is completely cured and can be used in the temperature range from -60 °C to +200 °C. In addition, the silicone elastomer LSR is UV and ozone resistant. Due to its properties, this material is particularly suitable for small series and prototype production.
Application examples:
Seals, joints, shoe components, covers in the sanitary sector, electronics, housings in the medical sector, design, handling technology.
Advantages
- flexible material with different Shore hardness
- low viscosity and very good flow behavior
- no anisotropies
- allows increased design freedom of applications manufactured with conventional LSR
- UV resistant, ozone resistant
